How Two Daughters Built Centro de Amigos Inspired by Their Mothers
They Built the Business They Wish Existed When They Were Caregiving for Their Mothers
Some businesses begin with a market opportunity.
Others begin with love.
For Doris and Enid Karpeh-Diaz, co-founders of Centro de Amigos, their founder journey was deeply personal.
Inspired by their mothers and shaped by the realities of caregiving for their own aging parents, they created the adult social day center they wished existed for their own mothers and community.
Centro de Amigos serves Spanish-speaking Latino seniors and caregivers in Haverstraw, New York through culturally rooted programming, connection, dignity, y comunidad en español. Their work has become a lifeline for Latino families navigating aging, caregiving, and isolation.

✨ Corporate partnership strategy
✨ Revenue growth planning
✨ Long-term exit and sustainability planning
How FounderFuego’s Media and PR Strategy Made the Difference
One of the highlights of this journey was helping position and amplify their advocacy story through a strategic media and PR strategy, which contributed to Centro de Amigos being featured on ABC7 New York and helped generate the visibility needed to secure a meeting with state leadership around the legislative impacts facing senior social day centers in New York and how their center plays a key role in the ecosystem.

Centro’s 18-Month Growth and Scaling Roadmap
We also worked alongside them to build an 18-month roadmap focused on creating stronger systems, expanding partnerships, increasing revenue generating opportunities, and building long-term optionality for the future of the organization.
But beyond strategy, what inspires us most is the corazón behind the mission.
Doris and Enid didn’t just create a business. They created belonging con cariño.
A place where Latino seniors feel seen, understood, celebrated, and connected to cultura, language, y comunidad.
That’s the kind of chispa that changes lives.
Doris and Enid's mothers inspired them to transform and build a business that's serving hundreds of Latino seniors in New York today. ❤️
This Mother’s Day week, we’re celebrating the mothers, mother figures, mentors, and family members who helped shape the people we're becoming and the businesses we’re building today. ❤️
